More than 350 individual performers and ensembles perform in more than 12,000 performances annually at approximately 40 locations across the MTA transit system.

Subway walls are typically made of hard, heavy-duty materials such as tiles, stone, steel, and concrete. These materials reflect sound waves better, resulting in a natural increase in sound levels without the need for a microphone or speakers. Similar to the performance space design of mainstream theaters, the structure of the New York Subway provides an "underground theater" for performers.

At the forefront of the brand identity is a variable typeface created for the New York City subway. Based on the first graphic of visualizing the propagation of sound in a concert hall in Architectural Acoustics, I imagined an image of the sound visualization of performers in the New York subway, and based on these images, I created a variable font that combines New York characteristics and sound visualization.

In addition, the visual system also uses the original color palette of the New York subway, combined with the performers' character photography in the New York Subway, and adds uniqueness and diversity to the picture based on the visual fluctuations of the subway sound.
